Philanthropy in Transition: Exploring the Paths to SDGs

Submission Guidelines:

Abstracts of not more than 500 words are invited in Arabic or English. The conference will accommodate simultaneous translation in both languages. Please include your full name, title and institutional affiliation when submitting an abstract. To be considered for review an abstract must include:

  • A clear title related to the conference thematic areas as outlined in the call for papers
  • A clear statement of the empirical or theoretical issue to be addressed
  • A short account of the methodological approach and sources of data
  • Main arguments, expected findings, and preliminary conclusions

Abstracts not meeting these requirements or unrelated to the Arab region will not be reviewed.

Abstracts submissions deadline has been extended to June 16th, 2017.

 Significance of the research to scholarship and advancing the fields of philanthropy and civic engagement in the Arab region.

Intellectual rigor and potential for publication

Research Paper Guidelines

  • The first draft is due on August 17th, 2017. .
  • The first draft should be at least 80% complete. The final paper is expected to range between 2000 and 2500 words.
  • Both APA and MLA formats are accepted.
  • The paper should have an interesting title, a reference page and an updated abstract. An abstract should range between 350 and 500 words and be included at the beginning of the paper.
  • Charts and tables should be included in the Appendix.
  • Papers are accepted in either English or Arabic.
  • Papers should be proofread before final submission. Papers with grammatical or spelling mistakes will be automatically discarded.
  • You will receive feedback on the draft you will send based on which you will submit a final draft. Upon successful submission of the draft, you will be contacted by a member of the GC staff to initiate the travel arrangements.

Panel Presentation Guidelines:

  • Submit an essay to explain what you will be addressing in the panel. This should be around 500 - 1000 words long and is due on May 25th, 2017. Please note that the essay will not be considered for publication.
  • Submit a powerpoint presentation (other formats like Prezi are also accepted) that you would use in the panel by September 10th, 2017. Each panelist will present in 10 - 15 minutes.
  • Presentations should be interactive and should have a clear and interesting title.
  • Upon successful submission of the essay and the presentation on the due date, you will be contacted by a member of the GC staff to initiate the travel arrangements.

    تقديم ملخصات الأوراق البحثية

    يتم تقديم ملخص باللغة العربية أو الإنجليزية للورقة البحثية في حدود ۵۰۰  كلمة على الأكثر، وسيتم الاستعانة بالترجمة الفورية باللغتين. وعند تقديم الملخص برجاء ذكر اسم مقدم المقترح  بالكامل، واللقب، والمؤسسة التي تتبعها. وحتى يتم النظر في الملخص يجب أن يشمل الملخص ما يلي:

    عنوان واضح مرتبط بالموضوعات المتعلقة بالمؤتمر على النحو الموضح في الدعوة لتقديم أوراق بحثية.

    يبين بوضوح القضية التجريبية ( الإمبريقية) أو النظرية التي يتم تناولها.

    وصف مختصر للمدخل المنهجي ومصادر البيانات.

    القضايا الأساسية، والنتائج المتوقعة، والخلاصة المبدئية.

    لن ينظر في الملخصات التي لا تفي بهذه المتطلبات أو التي لا تتعلق بالمنطقة العربية.

    معايير الاختيار

    أهمية البحث من الناحية الأكاديمية، وفي النهوض بمجالات العطاء الاجتماعي والمشاركة المدنية.

    دقة وشمولية المحتوى الفكري وإمكانية النشر.
