The EURECA Program

Vision:

The Program for Excellence in Undergraduate Research, Entrepreneurship and Creative Achievement envisions a vibrant, undergraduate-centered campus that fosters independent, creative, life-long researchers, passionate for innovation and the sharing of knowledge, community enhancement and diversity.

Mission:

In line with the American University in Cairo’s mission, strategic themes of ‘academic excellence’ and enhanced “student experience,” and goal to “strengthen research activities and expand AUC' s intellectual contributions, particularly through interdisciplinary centers of excellence,” the Program for Excellence in Undergraduate Research, Entrepreneurship and Creative Achievement
• institutionalizes and provides standards for undergraduate research events/activities
• nurtures amongst the academic community across the disciplines a culture of research and development and the drive to advance the liberal education outcomes of undergraduate inquiry, critical and creative competence.     

Goals:

To fulfill its mission, the program will

  1. promote undergraduate research and creative works through activities, periodic events and on-going services to students and academic faculty
  2. document undergraduate written, oral and visual outcomes, as well as faculty pedagogical experiences
  3. reward exemplary performance and provide grants to support undergraduate research
  4. evaluate student learning outcomes of inquiry, critical and creative thinking through continuous research and assessment
